    gsx 400f resto

    Hi All,
Finally got my half of the garage sorted out so I decided to start my Resto on my 1981 GSX 400 FX. The first thing was to remove the motor, strip the frame down so it can be painted. I did the blasting of the frame to remove the paint. Once it was removed I used a detail sander to remove any surface rust, which there was not a lot of. The colour I am using is gloss black.
Can not get the pictures to work. Will try to post again later

Wow here I was thinking I was the only one! Check your wiring out where it enters your switch blocks on the bars mate , and check around the ignition cause mine had worn out and started shorting randomly ;-)

          GSX 400 f Resto

          Hi ALL
I thought that I may as well split the cases apart to do a check of the crank shaft journal Bearings. Started out ok but ( BUT ) I snapped 2 bolts , one in the upper case and one in the lower case , ( not happy Jan ) . After some very loud yelling I carefully used an easy out with some heat to remove them. Thank the speed demon’s who invented easy outs

              Hi All
Have made some slow progress on the engine. I had my brother in law work his magic on the cylinder head . Top bloke and knows what he is on about .He did the valve seating for me and installed the valves as he has all the right tools needed. All I had to do was install the rocker arm shaft etc.
