tach trouble
The blade on the engine that the tach cable inserts into on my project bike is broken. I am assuming that I'm going ng to have to go with an electric tach because not this. Any one have any suggestions and know what all is needed ? Any possible easy fix for the mechanical tach ?

Not quite sure but I just copied the link which took me to your page. Then, I copied the picture and pasted it in my reply.
Typically I just use photobucket; you can find instructions on how to post pictures at Basscliff's site - http://members.dslextreme.com/users/...t_pictures.pdfCowboy Up or Quit. - Run Free Lou and Rest in Peace

Okay, now that I went back and read it better, you can replace that piece as the parts are still available. I'd look at the parts fiche for you but I have no clue what bike you are talking about.
How about putting that information in your signature block.Cowboy Up or Quit. - Run Free Lou and Rest in Peace

So looking at the parts fiche for your bike on Boulevard Suzuki, the tach drive is in the Cylinder Head, part number 25.
It's weird but the picture won't show up on the main site even though it did while editing it.
They sell it for $24.10Last edited by cowboyup3371; 01-19-2014, 03:35 PM.Cowboy Up or Quit. - Run Free Lou and Rest in Peace

I had to do a similar job on my 850. You'll have to remove that whole sleeve. Most people say this is supposed to be easy, but mine was a real bear to get out. Hopefully you will have better luck. There are two seals you'll want to replace while you have it out.
Here's a guide: http://bwringer.com/gs/tachcableseals.html

Terrific link ! You guys are great. Will place an order for the seals today.
QUESTION - in purchasing a new tach and spedo, what ratio are they for my year/model bike (79 GS850) ?
