    My GS550E (Z) project

    Hi,
Started with my project. The first things are the swingarm and bar to the caliper.
They are going to be powdercoated. Then the brake lines renewed and the chain and sprockets. Ne nicest thing is looking for the best prices for powdercoating and my other bits. Finally a new brake line after 32 years.

I just found a place that will do my decals for my side panels. I will show them when they are finished on here. I bet I have to do the laquer over the stickers after.

Tomorrow the Avon's are going to be fitted and just having to check the numer of links and the front sprocket size so I can order my chain and sprockets. Front sprocket should be 15 rear 50 . The chain should have a 110 links but the German company said that the chain will probably be a 112 links. I believe the manual but better to be safe.
And I have to take a few things to be powdercoated next week. The swingarm reaction rod that goes to the rear caliper and the centre stand. And get my new brakelines from the UK. Front and back steel braided brake lines. So some pictures should be coming soon.

Today my Avons AM26 fitted. And the swingarm is being powdercoated. The Front wheel has gone back into the bike and I have checked the number of links on the chain too. Which was 110 . So I can order my chain. Also removed the valve cover today and will check the valve clearance tomorrow. I also found out that the clutchrod seal is leaking and the camchaintensioner might leak too. But that can wait as the carbs might have to come off too.

Brakelines on order from http://www.wezmoto.co.uk/. I have more brakelines then you will find on the other Suzuki Gs550's. I have 5 on the front and one on the rear.
And I just got in touch with a German firm who will supply the chain and sprockets. I want to buy an endless O ring chain. So DID chain with JT sprockets.

Both decals for side panels have come from the UK. From 'The Image works". They seem to have done a good job. Swingarm bearings and chain and sprockets are on the way.

Sticking the decals on is a thing you have to learn. Next time I know how to start.

Front brake lines renewed. They are a good fit so I am very happy with them.

Just the brake system to fill up and bleed now and the brakes should be quite safe again. The old brakelines had the date on them (1982).

The chain and sprockets. The JT sprockets are slightly thinner then the others that I had on the bike before.Locking plates for the nuts from the sprockets still to fit.

Today I have ordered my Hagon shockers with the 18/kg/cm springs. And tomorrow I will finish the carbs hopefully and then the seal for the camtensioner is the next item I need to get.
I will have to undo the front sprocket with my airgun at work as it is very tight ( the nut) to undo. Wasn't like this on previous Suzuki GS550's
