Alright boys, i didnt forget about ya, its been a long hard winter. its my first real "build" i usually just spray bomb my bikes and ride em ratty. A lot of patience, and a lot of attention to details to make everything "right".i went through a million ideas and eventually settled on going OEM-ish because simply the fact my friend had a BRAND NEW in the box gas tank thats been sitting for YEARS and YEARS. This bike has it all without straying to far from the originality of it all. Its got modern brakes, gold emulators for forks, heat pressed seat cover from england, you name it the list goes on! Big thanks to all the guys on here and my buddy who helped build it i couldn't have done without you guys and not without this forum. This bike i can honestly say, had no corners cut, and with the attention to detail, this was seriously a lot of hard work every step of the way. It still needs some minor things sorting out (horn etc.) but shes pretty much all there. Not bad for literally a shoe-string budget opeartion
Kicker went in using 79 clutch cover, and kick start assembly, along with some slight fab.
Maybe we'll go this route?
Heck no! lets go the Cafe Route~ rahh rah
fast forward a year and this is when we realized were going oem build.
okay so fast forward like overhaulin' and the other tv shows, and here we have a Factory GS850. i got the idea to do the sidecovers when i seen a mint condition 79' red cbx with the semi-gloss side covers and the badge showing.
Let me know what you guys think? Tkent im sure your glad i didnt go the S model route lol.Last edited by GabrielGoes; 04-08-2015, 10:04 AM.John 3:16

Nicely done, hows it running? personally I think it would look better with the side covers matching, The black rims and engine look great but when you look at it the side covers and the gold on the front calipers stand out and 'not belonging'. I wonder about a bit of a lower bar as well.Rob

I second getting the side covers painted. It would make the whole combination come together.http://img633.imageshack.us/img633/811/douMvs.jpg

1998 Honda ST1100 (Daily long distance rider)
1982 GS850GLZ (Daily rider when the weather is crap)
Darn, with so many daily riders it's hard to decide which one to jump on next.;)

I would suggest that if you are leaving the panels matt black (I get the CBX idea) you need to make the badges stand out a bit more. Maybe it's a trick of the light but the '850' part needs a lift.
Nice job all round.
p.s. is that rear tyre a standard size? It looks huge in the profile shot.
