Ok. But is it true that tappy valves degrade overall engine performance due to opening late and closing early as well as not opening enough? I know that 0.02mm above specs isn't much. It's just me trying to be a perfectionist

I certainly wouldn't add any loose pieces of metal inside my engine.Last edited by Guest; 02-20-2014, 06:59 AM.

As I had opened both engines side by side on my 450 and friend's 500, I noticed that both top ends are HIGHLY similar and cams are almost identical. This thread is for my friend's GS500 however. My 450 is running fine now

Hello Safwan, Welcome to the group. Your bike is a nice looker, don't remember ever seeing one like it myself. Don't worry about your valve settings costing performance or causing any damage. I would consider them to be about optimal for a GS. They will slowly but surely tighten over the miles, but you will most likely not have to adjust them for quite a while or worry about burning them. Hope you enjoy the time on GSR. Ray"Nobody goes there anymore, it's too crowded" -Yogi Berra
