    82 gs1100 2V top end on 78 gs1000E 2V conversion :)

Looking for a big bore conversion.
    Heads:
Valves are the same part numbers
heads casting are different part numbers.

I do know the CV boots mount bolts are wider apart than on the conventional head. Is the port bigger ..hence performance advantage?

    Whats different?

    Crank:
    Both have different part numbers.

    Whats different?

    Cylinders

Obviously ones bore is bigger than the other>

Will the 1100 cylinders work on the 1000??

Hi, if your looking for porformace I'd go for a 1085cc kit (wissco) and bore your 1000 barrels to that. I have herd that the 1100 head and barrels do go on the 1000 but not done it myself,(so all I can say myself is hear say). If you have a slide carb head on your gs1000 putting the cv carb gs1000 head on will help as they have bigger ports, but some of the old tuners like the slide carb heads for tuning as they have more meet on them and you can reshape the ports to what you want it to do.

What you are looking for is the 1100 D port head as on the '83 1100GK, flows a heck of a lot better than the earlier heads.
Beware, not all 1100 heads have the D port shape.

          I thought the 1983 was a 4v head? or did they make a 2v in 83

The 4 valve is the bike we called the GSX; the Yanks still called it a GS. Suzuki carried on making the 2v GS1100G in parallel with the GSX

I wonder if the 1000 CV Heads are D port?

The 1100 shafties were all 2-valve heads, all the way through 1985, or whenever they officially ended.

No, just the '83 and '84 1100 2-valve SHAFTY heads.

So the GK did not get the D-port head?

I wonder why not. Would have made sense to just have on head in inventory, and the heavier bike could have benefitted from the added performance.

Oh, well, I guess that's why they didn't do it. It would have made sense.

                      Sorry,
                      I was thinking GK.
I tend to put these two models in the same boat.
From memory only black engines have the d port.
