Nearing the finish line!
Thank you all for the amazing feedback! Seriously, it's very encouraging to hear positive comments from a community of guys that know these bikes and hold them in such high regard. So glad I found this place!
Got a new chain as a bike-warming gift from my friend Mark, who helped lay out the graphics....
Got the rear axle adjusted to spec, slapped the tank and seat on and took my first few miles!
The specs on the cluster are courtesy of a chrome polish bottle that managed to get too close to a buffing wheel....uh, don't ask.
I have to adjust the rear brake (too much play in the pedal), finish wiring the rear signals, a couple minor tweaks to the carbs and tidy up a bit of the wiring behind the headlight and I believe my first build will be in the books!
I'll have the full load of "after" pics when I get all the tins on and finish cleaning off all that splattered chrome polish, woof!

Finished!
Got it finished, tuned and tightened, runs like a champion!! My pal Nick has an insane camera so we decided to get all Annie Leibovitz and take some artsy fartsy photos......
Without further delay, here is my freshly finished 1978 Suzuki GS 400. Special thanks to my friends that helped me through those long frustrating "maybe I should just go buy a new bike" moments and got me through to the other side of my very first build. Thank you also to the members of this forum for providing me some amazing tips when I was in foreign territory and encouraging words....

Mate that's awesome, she looks fantastic!
I am going to have to give you one little bit of critique though... you need some sort of bracing for those front forks. The stock guard provides bracing so without it, they'll be a little more flexy than they should be so I would be looking at getting a fork brace on there if I was you... just my 2c though... top job!1982 GS450E - The Wee Beastie

Dude if I had that bike I'd nod my head and throw thumbs ups to everyone at every single red light. Just an epic paint job on a well executed bike. Amazing
