    You can tell the 850 is an L in that pic by the tank. They's smaller and differently shaped than the E, ES, G, bikes. Some of the guys on here have incredible eyes for looking at a part and being able to call out an exact model number.

      Well thanks to you guys. The 650 is saved from the saw.... The 850 on the other hand is going under the knife. I am going to cafe the bike, but after sitting on it with out the seat, I might bob it.

        Just as an update. The 650 was saved and traded for a 1979 Triumph TR7 Convert....... Yeah me. And the 850 is going to be bobbed. Hope to have pics of the transformation as I should be starting it in a week or two.

          I am curious about the 850 "L".

          I don't see an "L" in this picture:


          I am noticing a plastic piece that runs alongside the bottom of the seat. The G had it, the L did not.

          Don't bob either one.
