You took essentially nothing, and turned it into something, and something cool at that. Good for you. Have fun with it.

Thank you! It really means a lot. I have blood, sweat and tears in this dang thing and I'll be dammed if I'm not gonna finish it haha. It's definitely getting...closer.

By not separating them completely from the back bracket, because I had no means to dip them. So yeah they probably are poorly cleaned, but they are cleaner than they were and I got all of the o-rings changed and every jet cleaned out..which makes it a little progress.

Woke up to a whole new set of issues. After getting gas in the bike and letting it run for a few minutes (was going to adjust the air screws) I noticed a bit of oil coming from the right pipe.

I'm hoping that a new gasket kit will solve the oil in the exhaust issues, along with adjusting the shims if needed.
On a side note, I did put a few ounces of seafoam into the gas tank, could this be what is coming out through the exhaust? The liquid doesn't really have the viscosity of oil.

I checked the plugs to see if any of them were oil covered. None seemed to be, can anyone give me some information?

              Plugs are in order
              (1,2,3,4)

              (1,2,3,4)

Update Took the bike out and rode it around the block for 15min, so I could check the plugs again.

              They are set (4,3,2,1)
The "oil" in the exhaust stopped (assuming it was just the seafoam and carbon build up.
When riding though, the bike pops a lot at high RPM's (like when I crack into the throttle). I know it still needs the carbs tuned, but outside of that any ideas?
Video of Bike Running (horrible quality sorry)
              Update #2
Just got my valve shim tool in the mail and my feeler gauges. I'll be checking that Friday.
              Update #3
4 new NGK Spark Plug Resistor Covers just showed up as well.

Still awaiting the arrival of the Intake Boots (which from what I've read could be the #1 cause of all of my problems)

              Thanks in Advance,
              Brandon

Running on no sleep, I decided to go to town and buy the materials needed to soak my carbs and jets. Picked up a new battery as well (hell yeah!!)

Got the NGK resistors on as well!!

I have read online that you can soak the carbs in Pine-Sol and it works nearly as well as Chem-Dip, sooo I decided to try it (you never learn things in life you never try new things). Anyways about 2 hours later I had the carbs completely disassembled (aside from being off of the rack) and had them soaking in the 2.5gal(Pine-Sol) - 2.5gal(Water) = Solution that I whipped up for this event. The jets and other brass parts are soaking in Chem-Dip and all of these parts will soak for the next 24 hours.

I'll let you all know how the carbs turn out tomorrow (pictures will be posted).

Keepsailing, good luck with your build and the carbs.

Curious to know if anyone can confirm if the recomended Pinesol dip is actually a mix of water + pinesol? Or just pure Pinesol? Going to dip my carbs soon too. Thanks!

I've read lots of different mixtures when it comes to the Pinesol. I basically made it 50/50 and dipped them. Good luck!!

After 27hrs of soaking in a Pine-Sol solution, the carbs turned out great aesthetically. Let’s hope they perform better now as well.

                        Pine-Sol Solution
                        2 gallons of Pine Sol
                        2 gallons of Water

Well I assembled the carbs today put the valve cover back on, and installed the new battery. Took a little bit of choke, but she fired right up. After a test ride, I've came to the conclusion that I'm having clutch problems now.

                          Edit Ordered clutch springs.

                            GS850 Seat

Decided to make a seat for the GS850 today. It's not the most aesthetically appealing, but it should work and didn't really cost me a whole lot.

You might want to set the cams to the correct position and check your clearances again.
