    GS650GL + 90's katana 600

Have a chance to pick up a katana 600 cheap. If it's still there Wednesday I'm picking it up.

Still have my eyes open, just need to finish paying for school. The katanas and the gs650 use the same steering bearings, so in theory it should be a more straight foreword front suspension swap. The rear swing arms on the shaft drives are are held in by studs, more or less, so a little lathe work on them and mounting the new swing arm should be cake. And since they screw in and out and are held by lock nuts, adjusting for the width of the new arm should be easier than converting a chain drive bike.

either a 600 or 750 kat should work, and gsxr's are getting cheap too.

Should be a good winter project. 6 gears, sprockets, dual front brakes, rear mono shock, more power. Should be able to throw on a bigger tank too.

I take it you picked the Kat up? What will be left of it when you are done?

Not yet. Just keeping my eyes open. They pop up pretty often for less than $500.
          I'd rather pic up a 750.

I will have a ton of 650 parts up for grabs at some point.

That would probably be a carb issue. Easy fix. I would jump on that if I had the room!

My 650 is titled, less than $1000 in the whole thing including the price of the bike. I figure a 600/750 katana swap would be fun and fast(er) and it'd give me the parts to do a 550/650 on down the road. Katanas are getting cheap.

The 650 is ok, it's not slow, but it's sure not fast.

$400, columbus, 1993 katana 600 with carb issues

i just have to wait until school is finished after December. I rather swap a 750, for obvious reasons

Stop posting those! I don't have enough room in my garage and the wife will kill me if I spend all the Christmas money on more bikes.
