'81 GS550 Cafe / Restoration
This is my thread started to document my '81 GS550 cafe conversion / restoration project. Traded this bike for an old drum set I had sitting around. PO had already taken the carbs off to clean and lost interest with the project. He also included some extra parts when I picked it up including all 4 carb rebuild kits new in package, an extra seat, and a complete transmission assembly. He mentioned it slipped in 2nd gear, so a full tear down and case split is on the schedule. I will try to update this about once a week, and might be slow going due to wife and 3 kids with a full schedule, but the hope is to have this ready to ride by next spring.Tags: None

If possible, you may want to get a better definition of "slips" ....Slipping out of gear is far different (and worse) then slipping clutches(much simpler fix)
Those more knowledgable then me can elaborate.....Good luck. I feel you pain of the family/bike balancesigpic
When consulting the magic 8 ball for advice, one must first ask it "will your answers be accurate?"

Maybe I should have put more detail in the original post, but I was having issues with the picture uploading so I had everything typed out 3 times and lost it every time. He said it would drop out of 2nd while riding. Even though he mentioned he didn't ride it much before he pulled the carbs off for rebuild. I wasn't too worried about it since I plan on splitting the cases anyways and he included a complete transmission assembly.
