I had to move this summer and lost access to my "workspace" and the 550/673 project stalled, http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...e-s&highlight=. But now I have a place to project, wrench, curse, fart, create and learn until i pass out.
On to the subject at hand....... my 81 GS750E aka. "Tha Barcalounger"
So last month I was cruisin Craigslist, when i came across a 2011 GSXR 750 part out ad and i scored a complete front end(forks, controls, wheel, brakes, no top yoke though) and a rear wheel for "a very special price"

I've had this bike for almost 2 years now, but for the past 2 months it has been parked in a garage, not running..... PO did a tank lining (Kreem?) poorly and it has pealed off and surrounded my petcock filter. When I would ride the bike, I would periodically have fuel starvation issues that became more frequent. So frequent in fact that no gas would reach the carbs. "Blast!" said I, as I raised my closed fist of utter disappointment and disgust above this unruly beast. Disgust quickly turned to love again, because....come on, its a GS. Time for a rebuild. Oh yea, dont mind the tail section on the front there... my shop partner and I were having a little fun. Its off a 1999 TL1000r he is parting out. One of these days i will find the right TL for me.

After waking up from blackout, ^this is what I saw^. No turning back now, got to keep on going.....

Now thats more like it!

Now, this is all mock up, but its all going to work. Thing on the TO DO list are as follows
· Bearing swap for the front and swingarm
· Figure out a s/a pivot bolt/top hat spacer combo that works the best (I have a few ideas a brewing)
· Modify the 81 850 tank to fit the frame
· Chain line (UUUGGGHHHHHHHH!!!

· Swap bearings to fit the 2011 wheel in the 2007 gixxer swinger
Then of course a carb rebuild and valve adjustments, gaskets and an oil change, paint and polish, the usual tid-bits.

Here she sits next to the 550 and the BAJA 22r Toyota. I have new parts and a motor from a 93 Katana 600 that will be finishing up the 550.

And all cleaned up at 3am.
