About that Stainless Steel Supertrapp system, it appears that some kind of vermin liked it a little too.
I have never seen one of these on one of these old scooter exhaust systems before. Was '83 the first year for this crap?
With the overall general condition of this bike, I was surprised to ONLY find oil in the crankcase.
That is about it for today's progress.

I did not get to even look at it yesterday but, I did get to take one of the other GSes out for an evening ride. It is always best to have a good running bike around to keep you motivated when you dive into a POS.
Today, I got a couple of hours to look at it again and discovered another PO problem.
Armed with a good assortment of left-handed drill bits, penetrating oil and patience, I managed to extract the frame bolt and re-tap it.
And somehow bbjumper must be clairvoyant. And so it starts...
A short while later...
That's it for today and probably until Saturday.

2016 XL883L sigpic Two-tone blue and white. Almost 42 hp! Status: destroyed, now owned by the insurance company. The hole in my memory starts an hour before the accident and ends 24 hours after.

The gauge housing is cracked to heck. The gauges are fine though.
Pulled the engine and took the frame and swinger down to a self service car wash.
Finished the first coat of paint on the frame a few minutes ago. Time to get to work...

A little more investigation today and a few questions for the GSR 4-valve hot-rodding experts.
I am pretty sure that I will be using this complete clutch assembly as someone obviously has done some work with it...
Shifter paws look thicker than any other GS engine that I have been into, about 1/8" thick. Is that normal with these '83 engines?
I will be using these hi-pressure gears for the oil pump.
Now for the questions for the experts. Of these three sets of cams, which is which? (Witches are for later this month for those that are spelling impaired BTW)
The first pair (HP 167) is what was found in this engine, the other two pairs (212 and Web 223) are some that I have gathered over the years.
Hopefully, someone can tell me who made which and what the specs are.
That would save me a bunch of time and make my decision as to which I will be using MUCH easier. Thanks in advance.
