    1978 GS 1000 Gsxr build

My 1170 is still a wreck so we picked this bike up. 78 1000. Gsxr 1100 forks and wheels, aluminum swinger. Kind of a rat for now....

Factory tank is being evapo-rusted. Honda doesn't look that bad.

Few questions. Will an 82 1100e motor fit into this frame? Are 78 cases different than 82 e?

Looks like a full time job just to keep those wheels polished.

Thanks Glen. I'm always lurking around here even when I don't have a project going.

Wheels will be powder coated black eventually.

Anyone know if the 16v e engine will fit in this frame?

Yes but you'll need to make up new motor plates. Do some searching there is info on here. You'll also likely have a problem with Carb/petcock interference but with the Honda tank... who knows?!

After digging through several pages it looks like it bolts in minus the bottom mounts. I'll have to pull my 16v and see how bad the damage is first...

Successful 16v swap. First run on that motor since I crashed it.
