Is this cylinder head to a gs1000?

Hello everyone, I am new to this site and also new to the gs motorcycle. I bought a beautiful gs1000s that was not all the way complete. When looking a the motor I noticed a bolt hole on the front of the cylinder jugs, but the cylinder head does not have this hole. I took it to a local Suzuki shop and they told me that the cylinder head is from a gs750. Just looking for some other options on this. Thank you!!

Suzuki added that extra bolt lug sometime during the '79 model year. It won't hurt anything to use the setup in the photo, you just won't receive the benefit of the extra feature.

As for what head you have, measure the valve sizes and compare to what shows in the factory Suzuki service manual. You can download a copy here...http://members.dslextreme.com/users/bikecliff/

Oh, and what ever you do don't put the engine back together using green Athena gaskets. Consider this your warning.

      To measure is to know.

The 750 head will have an idler gear between the camshafts.

Has anyone had problems because they didn't have that extra bolt ?

No. If you're taking the head apart just due the routine 500 mile re-torque. Do you know what those front rotors are from?

Honestly I'm not sure what those rotors are off of.
