    1978 GS1000E Rebuild

Ok guys, I'm planning a frame up restore of my skunk. I want to keep the original look to it with some modern upgrades. Would like to upgrade to digital guages, led lights, upgraded fuse block and wiring, upgrade, coils, wires, rotors and electrical system in general. Would like to do a full vetter fairings, saddle bags and trunk with updated sound system and gps and some 12v outlets for charging cell phone and other misc. Items. Upgraded shocks and springs. Looking for some suggestions and ideas. What are good upgrades? What's the best upgrade options and where to buy. I'll be digging deeper into the forums and rebuild threads for info and ideas. Money isn't an issue, I want to go all out on this rebuild. Right now I'm looking at having $10-15k available for the rebuild. Possibly more. Couple minor setbacks that I might be facing is finding the vetter mounting hardware for the saddlebags and trunk and I may possibly need a replacement engine case. My case has been broke and repaired so many times over the years that I would like something better for a full on restore. The vetter mounts seem to be like finding a needle in a haystack for the skunks. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You probably want to talk to posplayr about your electrical upgrades, he has a great deal of knowledge in this area. It sounds like you are the target market for his solid state power box, which replaces the fuse box and adds a whole lot of extra goodies as well.

He might have the Vetter parts you are looking for.
Use this forum to tell everyone the details about the GS that you own and a little about yourself as well.

I'm back after a long break. Been a long and busy almost 2 years. Working full time, got divorced, got remarried, had a new baby, had surgery and bought a house lol. Anyways, tonight the wife told me that my motorcycle looked sad and neglected, so the tools came out and the tear down began. Now the fun begins. This is all the further that I got tonight.
