First bike 1985 gs550L lots of questions!

Got this bike off a friend who i helped get it running over the winter. Its pretty comfortable and I just dopretty casual riding but i like everything to be in best shape possible. Right now im trying to adress why the carb has "flat-spots" as described by a fellow rider. I noticed its missed 1 clamp from intake boot but thats all I see. Also it leaks from the oil cooler and I cant find a replacement cooler line.
Main think I really want to do is polish it all up!

    member pousseux prolly has lines.
If not you can forgo the cooler as they were not original to the L only the E models
You would need to get the oil pan bolts for a coolerless engine though

plugs to forgo cooler are on this fiche for the LD far cheaper than scrounging for a cooler hose.
cooler may be overkill on an unfaired engine like this is anyway.

Get good clamps on the engine and air box side of the carbs..vac leaks make all sorts of problems.

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

So its not necessary to have the oil cooler? Even on a hot day that I may experience city traffic? Could i just find bolts that fit in hardware store?

Any suggestions where to get the clamps? Whats a good method to check for vacuum leaks on carb?

PM pousseux he parts bikes and has a 550 presently.
Like I said if the factory figured the naked engine needed no cooler its probably OK.
But yes nicer to have one. Part of the 500 dollar price difference tween the L and the faired E
