    Dans 82 gs1100e engine rebuild.

    Hi all.

So I got my hands on a gs1100e 1982 model Z for 200 bucks. I mainly bought it as a parts bike for my 1980 gs1100e. I thought I had scored big time because it had stainless 4into1 w super Trapp muff.

But check this out. It gets better. For shiggles I installed my working carbs and battery and the damn thing fired up. Unbelievable.

Checked compression. Not so lucky. 2 cylinders were considerably low so I'm guessing blown head gasket.

So I guess I'm gonna open her up.

Anyways heres some pics of the bike In the back of my truck.

how the heck do I put more than 1 pic down at a time?

Could just be tight valves. 82s were known to twist cranks (AMHIK...) Check that out too.....

20151021_213340.jpgThe game plan is to drop this engine into my 80 gs1100. I hope it'll fit.

Same engines externally, minor inside differences. Completely interchangeable, all parts from both engines. Feel free to call me at 714.356,7845 if you have questions. I build & race these & can tell you what you need to do to make it bullet proof. Great score you got!!
