So removing the head seemed the only way to get at the problem. I thought I had better post pictures of what I found and see what the forum brain has to say. One cylinder had some very light surface rust, I think it will rub out is that a problem?

84 GS1150 rebuild
I inherited this GS that hasn't moved in about 20 years. It's was parked due to two plugs broken in the number 1 and 4 cylinders, the core came out but threads remained. All attempts to remove it failed, one plug still had a easy out snapped off inside the plug body.
So removing the head seemed the only way to get at the problem. I thought I had better post pictures of what I found and see what the forum brain has to say. One cylinder had some very light surface rust, I think it will rub out is that a problem?

2016 XL883L sigpic Two-tone blue and white. Almost 42 hp! Status: destroyed, now owned by the insurance company. The hole in my memory starts an hour before the accident and ends 24 hours after.
