    1983 GS450A needs pieces

    Greetings Forumites!
I acquired this bike after it had sat for an extended period. The corners are broken off the side covers and I see little bubbles forming under the paint along the lower edge of the fuel tank. Anyone have these pieces for sale? Could the tank be repaired?
Besides fork seals, seat cover, battery, carb cleanout, oil & filter is there anything specific to this model to concern myself with?
Oh, it also has an old model Windjammer fairing on a home made frame that I would like to change back to just a headlight. The fork ears are still there but the headlight bucket is gone.
This will be a beginner's bike for my future daughter-in-law.
    Thanks
    Brad

    hi Brad,

I'm a lapsed member, returning to the fold

I've got extensive experience with the 450A, having made one into a chopper, and another into a trike...

if you've still got yours, feel free to ask me any questions.

in my time with the A's, there wasn't anything model-specific to be wary of -- typical oil filter seal leaks, the CV carbs do not like ethanol, and the battery must be put on a tender if the bike is going to sit for a stretch of days.
