This bike is overdue for touch up and new clear coat, so I'm gonna add a wide racing stripe up the middle on the tailpiece, tank and fender, plus the fairing, in red or burgundy.
Might add some similar pinstripes on the fairing.

My design came out really solid, feels good.
Next-headlight mount and windshield install.
Never mind, I looked back and saw that it's made of aluminum and steel.Last edited by gsrick; 07-17-2016, 02:42 PM.:cool:GSRick

Got it painted, vintage super bike look
Ok, I like it. Finally got rid of it's frumpy olde 80s cruiser look, while keeping the original black with pinstipes.
No sawsall, No larva seat, No "Cafe" BS.

Nice! It blends right in. If it wasn't for the red and the windscreen, you could hardly tell a fairing was on it. Have you had it up to speed yet? If so, how's it handle?Last edited by Deuce; 08-02-2016, 07:47 PM.https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4442/...678005be58.jpg

I pushed it up to 115MPH just a week ago, rock solid straight.
The bar end mirrors don't like those wind speeds, but they hung on.1982 GS1100G- road bike

That looks awesome!!!
I was looking at pics yesterday (before painted even) ,
I kept looking at my ride ('93 gsx1100g ) today and thinking about a similar fairing.
Starting to look naked imagining a similar fairing (Gotta save up some loot towards one).
That Bandit full fairing looks one of a kind cool on Air tech site IMO, BTW.
I was going to ask whether any trim was planned like the ebay bike,
(I have a link for some door trim that'd work but it's not rubbery like the pic in OP. from looking at some car door trim ebay to go on my gas-tank but undecided).
Looks great w/out trim and painted now though I see.
Well little off-topic but anyone know what the muffler is on the ebay bike pic ? (my 4-1 is same/very similar),
Curious about it for future possibilities.
Thanks for the awesome pics/ fairing information/technique !

I cut out headlight ears from cardboard, then thin galvanized steel, and fastened those to the struts.
I was gonna use those just for modeling the design and replace them with sheet aluminum, but they work very well as is because the fairing holds almost all of the headlight weight. Steel is probably better suited for these anyway.
