May I ask if the headlight on your bike is the 5 3/4 inch lens? If so, where did you get the plastci one that takes a halogen bulb? Got some part numbers??MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

Dont know what color your interested in, but if you want the OEM blue i have a pint that you can have. My buddy that runs the local paint supply gave me a quart instead of the pint I needed to repaint mine so I have lots of extra.
Post 17 here shows it after I repainted the bike......

Got my petcock repaired with the new seals. Noticed the tube for the {on} was bent near the top. If you bend the top of the tube to the depth of the tank, it almost closes the tube off. I'm not even sure if this is the stock valve...
Here's the measurements for the tank if anyone else wants them. I was unable to find them on here or Google, so I hope they help anyone else looking.
EDIT-Pic was revised to reflect proper measurements.

The kink wont hurt anything long as it isnt fully stopping flow. I would test it by putting the petcock in prime mode and see how strong of a stream its putting out first off.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

Got my adapter from partsnmore. Got a fuel valve from autozone and a 3/8 pipe thread to 5/16 barbed hose. No leaks and no more messing with getting the wrong petcock rebuild kits.

Started the bike for a test ride with the new-ish mufflers. The jetting was good for the uncorked stock ones, but now with the new ones. Things are weird.
More air flow than stock air filter with opened up mufflers was ok, but I wanted to hear the engine.
More air flow than stock air filter with slightly baffled pipes makes it run rich? I did not change the mains from one muffler to the other, but I would think it would run lean.
I'm going to swap to smaller mains to see if that helps. You can kind of see smoke at the end of the last video. It's not like oil. It's more like when someone first discovers vapes and is trying to make alot of smoke. It dissipates faster than oil smoke, but dose not really smell like gas ether.

Got the carbs re-cleaned. Found that the o-ring on one of the idle screws was cut, so I replaced both. Was going to set the tank back on and noticed the gasket on the fuel vale adapter plate was squished out both sides. I think the hole was cut a little too big and I'm sure that I tightened the bolts too much.

Got the fuel valve gasket sorted out. I'm fairly sure I was using bad/ watered down gas. I completely drained the tank carbs and put fresh gas in. Started up and ran fine. A tiny bit of smoke when you blip the throttle, but ALOT less than before. Checked the valves when I had the carbs off and also popped the headers off. Valves are still clean and dry so the seals are good. Still weird...

Why didn't you get a new petcock instead of messing with rebuild kits and fittings and such. I think your homemade fuel valve is pretty bitchin. Lol
Nothing like making your own parts! Awesomness!
I'm wondering if you're getting a little smoke because the new rings aren't scored into the cylinders yet. This is common on cars after a rebuild until it is broken in properly and if breaking in isn't done right, honing and rings need to be done all over again. Motorcycle motors might be different though so omit this until someone with more knowledge chimes in.
Move to Central Florida and ride year round with me! xD

While looking for a replacement float, I removed the rear wheel. Cleaned and re-greased everything. New chain. The rear sprocket and hub where sold black from old grease and oil.
