Happy new year.sigpic

Age Is Just A Number
Come on Pilot, it's not nice to use AGE as a method of degradation...both young and old, we have our quirks. (I'm assuming you're kidding)
Let's get back to this hardtail subject. The ideas may be unorthodox but it stimulates the brain to respond either positive or negative. And Lord knows, people have those opinions.

Now, now, Ed. Age does count for some things. Senility may be one of those things, but I have that on layaway.
Kids who cut up bikes, drink bad beer, and denigrate elders who know better on both counts-well, they deserve a bit of ribbing.Last edited by GS1150Pilot; 01-01-2017, 01:56 PM."Thought he, it is a wicked world in all meridians; I'll die a pagan."

Agreed...age does count but we can't teach these young GSers (Or Old Geezers) without expecting lip...they're fully baked!
Heck, I'm still learning the personalities on this board and playing as well as I can.
Although, one can tell character from the bike we ride and the beer we drink...we should be familiar with the poster before the onslaught of ribbing takes place.
But, lets get back to more info on the hardtail...

I like the GS450's and like seeing what other people do with them. IMO, as long as it's in good taste (which is obviously subjective) and the work is done thoughtfully and done right I'll enjoy hearing about somebody's project.
Here's a hardtail project that I enjoyed reading about and that wasn't dismissed by the GS community:
Are you doing a restoration project of some kind on a GS? Let everyone see what you are doing by posting the details here.
The same guy had a thread on chopcult:
So I just picked up this little chopper so I'd have something cool to run around instead of a silly sport bike. It's a GS450 motor (not sure what year), with a 16" comstar, 18" spoke disc wheel (no brake), with some cheap off the shelf chopper parts thrown on a crazy long hardtail. I think the guy who built it1980/1981 GS450 - GS500 Cylinder + Piston Swap - "De-L'ed", custom seat, CB350 bits, 18" rear, etc.
