    GS1000g

HELP, I've done my carberuttor rebuild. Rubbers new, O rings new. Suzuki carb kit(factory) ,done.
Shes been lying and waiting for six years. I bought her off a deceased estate.
Starts easy but will not idle unless I use choke or turn the idle screw up.
    Airbox leak proof.
I went around the block and 4000rpm on all gears she splutters.

You mentioned carb rebuild and Suzuki carb kit,but it sounds like your pilot jets are clogged or the circuit is.Can you shoot carb spray through the pilot jet and see itcome out the transition holes at the butterfly, through the air jet at the front, through the fuel mixture screw?

Labels are not quite right, Rick. The only GS carbs with diaphragms in '78 and '79 were on the twins.

He has a 1000G, which started in '80. They are at least the correct carb and the "spray through the passages" concept works well.

That was the best I could find on short notice to illustrate what I was saying.

That's OK, I might have learned something tonight.

I have never noticed a CV-type carb without the mounting rail holes at the top.
Will have to check a parts fiche for a GS400 or 425 to see whether they exist there.

Yep, there is a plate across the top, but no rail along the back.

The '80 450 still has that plate across the top, so the rail mounting holes could be used to identify carbs for the twins.

The GS850 manual on Basscliff's site has a good section on the CVs. I like to do the spray through as a final check.

I have had a blockage between the pilot air jet and the progression holes at the butterfly. I've also had mains and pilots that passed fuel OK, but the emulsion tubes were so messed up that the fuel did not atomize properly, and the bike ran like crap, even though the spray-through looked OK
