I have never seen one with the gold around the front of the tank though.
Yes, very nice. Job well done, very tasteful mods. As far as I know all the black '79 tanks had the extra gold striping on the front of the tank. My current one and previous 1000E had it. The blue or red standard models didn't have it.

From one 79 1000E owner to another, that is one nice looking example. Mine only dreams of ever being that nice. I also am a fan of what you have done to the seat.

Looking great! You are doing a fantastic job!

Are those lower shock bolts the flanged type? You can't use a regular bolt or the pivot won't rotate properly.

They are regular bolts, That's what I am currently working on. The originals were to short, these YSS shocks have a thicker bracket on the bottom. The Progressive's had a welded nut on the outside of the shock, these YSS's do not. Any suggestions?

What about a double nut and Red locktite.

A shoulder bolt is the proper fastener for that lower pivot. What about the bolt for the 1100E swingarm?

Same part# for 79 1000 and 82 1100. 09104-10002 Not shouldered but goes into a nut welded on the shock.

BEAUTIFUL bike. What did you use to polish all the aluminum bits?

Sand paper and lots of elbow grease. 120 grit, 150,180,220,320,600, then 0000 steel wool. Didn't want to polish to a mirror finish, wanted matte finish. Then a coat of wax.
