    81’ GS650GL - Top engine rebuild kit

I keep seeing 82’-83’ GL engine kits, will these fit?
Does anyone have a part # and or direction as to where to find a top end kit?
Spoke to local Suzuki and was told “Longer available”. He was young, and I am fully aware of how CS is so lacking these days. But, am running out of resources to find the correct gasket set.

    Thanks for any replies...

The later kit should fit with some minor differences. The valve cover maybe. Realize of course that you could order individual gaskets in lue of a "kit" if necessary.

Yep, the main difference is the valve cover gasket. The '81 and early '82 had 16 bolts, the late '82 and '83 had 17 bolts.

If you look on the parts fiche and many order forms, they give the engine number where the change occurs.

I used the 17 bolt version on my 1981 GS650GL and just trimmed off the portion with the extra bolt hole. No leaks, no problems.
