1983 gs1100ed restromod
Hi, I would like to thank all the people on gs resources for the info required to complete my restromod. I have never posted any questions because I have been able to find all the info that I need on the forums. The build was completed last summer and I already put 2500 k on the bike. The bike performs awesome. I have done a lot of work to the bike. Here is a partial list. Rebuilt brakes, forks, chassis bearings. Custom paint, carbs and exh20191027_150513.jpgaust. Stock wiring was ditched for motogadget components. Hope the photo downloads.1983 gs1100ed restro-mod. 1998 gsxr 1100 almost mint, 2019 kawasaki klx250, 2011 Beta 250 evo trials bike, 2017 Montesa 300rr trials bike, 2021 honda crf250rx woods weaponTags: None

Motogadget
Yes, the motogadget stuff is really expensive. Over 1,500 when you add it all up , m-unit, motoscope pro gauge,m-lock keyless ign. , 8breakout box, bar switches, wire and I also added a sh847 rr plus you got to have led turn signals. You can probably cut the cost almost in half by using Ebay gauges and bar switches. My wiring harness is about half the size as OEM, much simpler and cleaner, no fuses , relays , except for starter and you get rid of the speedo tachometer cables. It was not in the original plan, but I got sick of tracing electrical faults, mostly from the OEM gauge cluster. I paid 1500 for the bike in 1986.Attached Files1983 gs1100ed restro-mod. 1998 gsxr 1100 almost mint, 2019 kawasaki klx250, 2011 Beta 250 evo trials bike, 2017 Montesa 300rr trials bike, 2021 honda crf250rx woods weapon

Very slick system. I'm putting an Acewell gauge on my bike. The Acewell doesn't use the speedo cable or the tach cable. So question....what did you do with the connections where the old speedo cable comes out of the wheel hub and where the tach cable comes out of the engine? Did you just leave them open?1969 Honda CL350 Cafe

Alternative is a blind plug.
Suzuki has one .... the 2004 GS500F engine head was an intermediate, they had the old style head with mechanical tacho drive but used a blind plug and digital tacho.
Fits on a GS1000 head without adjustments, i would guess it also fits a GS550L.

Hi, I cut the old cables and threaded the end pieces into their respective locations and then filled the hole with silicon. This makes a leak proof cap that can be easily removed.I hope this helps.1983 gs1100ed restro-mod. 1998 gsxr 1100 almost mint, 2019 kawasaki klx250, 2011 Beta 250 evo trials bike, 2017 Montesa 300rr trials bike, 2021 honda crf250rx woods weapon
