The monkeys flying would probably be a safer bet than the previous owner.

marked as sold, wonder who bought that thing....lol more i thought about it less i want it, i already do plenty of mechanic work at school and on the side, itd take way too long for me to finish, have my eye on something but i need to stop being lazy and reassemble and throw the carbs back on the virago and sell it, thats literally all ive needed to do for a month now just been busy and whatnot.

also rp, i seen an 82gs1100e for sale, hit the guy up and by the time he responded it was sold, sold the same day it was posted.

there was a 1991 gsx1100g for sale but it was a higher pricepoint then i was willing to pay as its been in storage for a long time, cool bike but not exactly what im looking for.

I don't buy the "it's not worth more than $500". Sure, if you run in some motorcycle circles and know people who consistently come by bikes but the world of craigslist/facebook market place that many people (myself included) end up scouring is different. Everything is worth different amounts to different people and in DIFFERENT LOCATIONS. I live in Boston and any bike within an hour of the city is automatically more expensive. I've bought most of my bikes up in New Hampshire or in Connecticut - that's where the good deals are because there are fewer people willing/able to travel to a less populated area to pick it up.

I've been looking for a decent GS1000 around here for about two years and have yet to see one come up for less than $2k, running or not. If I could find a complete GS1000 that wasn't beat up for less than $1,500 with less than 30k miles I would JUMP on it - I really want a GS1000!!

All that said, $1,800 definitely seems a little high to me considering the 47k is a fair amount of miles and non-running status. I'd expect to put $1,000 -$2,000 to get it to sort everything out assuming you're doing the work yourself.

Heh, the regulars on this forum are used to getting bikes for free or nearly so.

I would personally pay up to $500 for a project bike, a few hundred more if it was one I was after for some reason or another.

If you’re wondering why all the pics on the FB marketplace post are taken in the dark shadows of the garage, when the big open garage door is only feet away, it’s because your pics earlier in the thread show the bike’s true colors. It may not be a complete POS, but it’s definitely a <$1000 project bike.

Ian, Today on facebook marketplace, Vilonia AR., a 1979 Suzuki GS1000E, looks pretty decent shape asking $1500.

What urks me is that I know he's gonna profit off of it after cleaning the bike up and doing a carb rebuild, but also he posted it for more than a near pristine example of a gs1000e, go figure.

I'm building an xs650 chopper right now anyways lol, I'll have my "built" gs650 and a chopped xs650 done before anything else is added to the stable.
