No problem guys!, check out www.iomtt.com for practice times and therefore starting positions in practice and also race results as well as a whole lot of other interesting facts, photos and history of this great event, pity the first day of practice looks according to the long range forecast to be thunder and lightining storms-forget zero emissions think jet skis might be more use!!!!.Johnny

Does the Irish army use dirt bikes? Good weather for mountain commando assault training.

Bill, if the Irish police bikes are anything to go by(they have only got honda pan europeans in the last 10 years-before that they had 550cc shaft drive kawasakis!) you could use a calendar to time the races. And anyway I was wrong- first practice session is on Monday May 30th not sdaturday-oops.I'm still a little hazy about the time difference between us but looking at a very old diary( and knowing that you are roughly within 1-200 miles of Chicago therefore are 6 hours behind us here are the practice times(weather permitting!) with you-Monday 30th May-Friday 3rd June, 12.20-1.55pm for solos

            Race days & times are:-Saturday 4th June,6am Superbike
            9am Sidecar race1

            Monday 6th June,4.45am Supersport 600 race1
            9.15am Superstock

            Wednesday 8th June,4.45am Supersport 600 race2
            6.45am Sidecar race2
            9am Zero emissions race

Friday 10th June, 6.15am Dianese Senior
Hope that this is somewhere near time wise. The zero emissions race is for battery or fuel cell technology bikes and they have already in the 3 years of this race have an AVERAGE speed of over 96mph for a lap, pretty stunning considering that it took over 50 years for a petrol bike to lap the isle of man circuit at 100mph or is that just me??.Johnny

Road racing is not for the naive…

Sorry to hear about these deaths:
“ACU Events Ltd regret to announce that sidecar competitor Bill Currie, 67, from Ellesmere Port, Cheshire and his passenger Kevin Morgan, 59, from Shrewsbury were both killed during the second sidecar qualifying session at the 2011 Isle of Man TT Races following an incident at Ballacrye in the North of the Island. The session was immediately red flagged following the incident.
Bill was an experienced racer who first competed at the TT Races in 1969, when he recorded a third place finish. He finished 8th in last year’s TT sidecar Race in his fastest ever race time of 107.944. Kevin made his TT debut in 1984. This was the first year that the pair had competed together.”
(Ballacrye corner is between the 17th and 18th milestones.)

Bill, thanks for posting the map. It made it a bit easier to follow the race. I managed to catch a side car race while ate breakfast.
