Best Run so far, no bar
Ran a few 6.44's in the 1/8 and a few 1.52 60 ft's too this past weekend. Was starting to carry the front wheel some too. I guess that's not too bad with struts and 16 psi in the 7" slick.

Yeah, make's me think if the old GS had a fairing like the newer bikes and if I lost alittle weight since I'm around 250, I probably give them a real run for their money

I like a full body , it helps the MPH - but a side wind is the trade off.
how low is your chassis? - advantage
I ran around 11 Psi in my M/T 7"slick - but I had a wheelie bar.
I'm building a no bar street style bike for next year -- DOT tire, single stage lock up 68"W/B I'm not used to this so I may have a few questions next year. I have a strut but if shox really help that drasticly I need one.SUZUKI , There is no substitute

It's just a stock GS frame with a 90's gsxr swingarm thats been extended around 4" so its about 65" long. Right now I got the rear about as low as it can go due to the swingarm touching the frame. Plus I'll need to fab up some shock mounts if I go that route. I bet my bike weighs more than 750 pounds with me on it ??
Right now I like how it feels and can drop some more air pressure and see how see launches again without the bars. Or I can just bolt them back on quickly and not have to readjust anything. I run about 8 psi when the bars are on too.

I love my slider!me and my pro bike are 235/460= #695~#700
but at 65" running a no-bar slick ?!?!? wow I admire you sir. carrying the wheel
index racing is getting popular. Ther rules are a little binding like DOT tires and throwing a lever. 68" and 70" max - working head and tail light, suspension.
10:50,9:50, 8:90.. I'm still not sure how I'm going to get it done.
maybe a little nitrous and a really safe engine combo OR Tons of compression and loose me some weight. either way I got to get it lower -
need some short 37mm tubes and sliders.
and a rear shock -my strut is technically illegal I'm not sure how much they check. Tech is a snap at most of the places up here.SUZUKI , There is no substitute

Yeah, you got to be careful coming out of the water box cause onetime I stood my bike straight up with just one hand and scared the hell out of the water box guy and me too
I've finally been able to make some clean runs the past two times out after fixing a air shifter problem, that darn PSI gage had a intermediate leak and I was chasing my tail replacing and testing everything else. You know Murphy, works fine at home but once at the track all heck breaks loose !!
After a few more outings and I get a good feel at launching I'll fill the NOS and see how she runs with a 25 shot ? That should crack the 5's in the 1/8.1166cc 1/8 ET 6.09@111.88

With wheelie bars I run 14/46 gearing, but since I've took them off for the past few months I kept the 14 on the front and went with a 48 rear to help get it out of the hole.
The 14/48 combo seems to work for me and my weight around 250 suited up. I even removed the lockup and went with 3 oem springs and 3 HD ones cause I like a heavy clutch lever.
As for launch rpm I really don't know ?? no tach just a shift light set at 9800 but I'd guess around 4 or 5 grand. I go through the 1/8 traps in 4th gear with the shift lite on and thats with the M/T 7" slick. Most likely I'll add a 2nd shift light with different pills until I can find the best RPM launch.
If I can get a solid 1.50 60ft that should give a me a 6.39 time or better I hope ?? I know I can get more aggressives with the throttle and clutch. Been trying to get away from thumb racing this year if you know what I mean.Last edited by RacingJake; 10-11-2011, 08:46 AM.1166cc 1/8 ET 6.09@111.88

I'm 240 in suit and the bike is going ot be 450-ish . I have a 1150 front end (heavy) but I want a regular gs1000E fork/skinny 18"(light). she's raked and at 68" now. I have an old fangled 18" GSXR wheel that has been widened to 6" by welding material on the edges and cush drive welded solid too. never seen one til I bought it. I can use a 7" slick or a 180 DOT radial on it. Going to lower it as far as rules allow (2"). if it works I plan on fixing a lot of red wagons next year. young punnks think a "sissy bar" bike is too deadly aaccurate.. ha! just wait.
I'm amazed you went bigger in the rear after removing the bars. I thought you'd soften it up without the bars.
But if you are not spinning, not lifting, and getting good green R/T's I'm all ears.
LOL! thumb racing is my speciality! yeah I tune with air gap. top bulbing or bottom, I'll be out of my element wiith a clutch in my left grip instead of the front brake.
I have changed a couple things since this picture was taken.
here it is at 73" and I am going to lose the GPZ fairing. My seat is going to be right on the frame bars (no foam) you can't cut the frame rails to alter center of gravity , more rules to comply with.SUZUKI , There is no substitute

I figure a bigger rear sprocket would help more getting the bike to move ?
With struts and a slick my tire pressure is the only adjustment I have with the frontend strapped down. Had it at 16 psi when I ran my best 60 and ET. I'll drop it another 4 psi and see how it runs next time out ?
With bars I had it set at 8 psi and got a few pic at launch and it almost looked like the rim was touching the ground when the slick was wrapped up.
