Phillip Island Moto GP tyre farce
Moto 2 race distance has been halved to 13 laps as Dunlop admit the tyres they have supplied to the newly surfaced track will not last the full distance.
Bridgstone have a similar problem in the Moto GP race and, for the first time in Moto GP history, a mandatory pit stop will be required on lap 141978 GS1085.

Yeah gonna be an interesting race, but I leave home at 1pm to get on a 3pm flight so I'm not gonna see it live dammit! Looks like I'll have to tune in at 10:50pm tomorrow night while sitting in a hotel room in Sydney to watch it (down there for work).
I dunno how I'm gonna avoid news between now and then!
I recorded qualifying yesterday and watched it last night... I had eyes like saucers when Marquez pulled out that 1:28.1 lap and then for Lorenzo to pull out a 1:27.8 I was like WTF??? Gonna be a top race if the tyres don't die too soon!1982 GS450E - The Wee Beastie

The race is about to start .
Reduced to 19 laps with a bike change at lap 9 or 10 .
I'm glad I didn't go down this year .
Who would've thought you could have too much grip .

Safe to comment yet? Hmmmm I'll say as much as I think the penalty was a bit harsh, but it should make for a great final couple of rounds to the season!1982 GS450E - The Wee Beastie

I'm not saying he shouldn't have been penalised (same for the two Aussies), just that that particular penalty was too harsh... penalise points/time would have been more appropriate I feel.
Having said that I'm not sure what penalty was defined before the start of the race... it's more about the big debacle and rushed rule changes... surely they can allow some leniency when changes happen fast like that? Just my opinion... I'm still looking forward to the next two rounds!1982 GS450E - The Wee Beastie
