I ran into Patrino Tuesday and, sadly, the GS is no more. He gave me some real weak reasons:
1. Main frame is bent
2. Swing arm is bent
3. Forks are bent
4. Shocks are bent
5. Lots of broken parts
In short, everything usable fits into a big tote
He's looking at getting another race bike, as that will be cheaper than gathering the parts and rebuilding the GS1978 GS 1000 (since new)
1979 GS 1000 (The Fridge, superbike replica project)
1978 GS 1000 (parts)
1981 GS 850 (anyone want a project?)
1981 GPZ 550 (backroad screamer)
1970 450 Mk IIID (THUMP!)
2007 DRz 400S
1999 ATK 490ES
1994 DR 350SES

Wow, I thought this was a new thread.
Epic journey reading through the build up, race season and sudden end.
Lot's of talent there Patrino!
All you GS racers are awesome!
