Great that the big bikes[1200cc limit?] will be back racing at Daytona but i wonder how many teams/companies would want to spend large amounts of money for a one-off race.
Funny how the 200 miler is now considered an endurance race.
How about the Vintage Superbikes as a support race to the modern bikes.2@ \'78 GS1000

Yea, but they are going to race on that Mickey Mouse 2.91 mile road course layout. That course does not use the NASCAR Turn 1 and 2 banking nor the fast lefthand infield sweeper. That infield sweeper used to separate the men from the boys!!!
When they go back to racing on the real 3.81 mile Daytona road course it might be like the Daytona 200's of old. Glad I was around for the heydays of the Daytona 200 in the 70's and 80's.

1981 GS 850 (anyone want a project?)
1981 GPZ 550 (backroad screamer)
1970 450 Mk IIID (THUMP!)
2007 DRz 400S

I agree with Big T, AMA racing is on its last legs.

"Krusty's inner circle is a completely unorganized group of grumpy individuals uninterested in niceties like factual information. Our main purpose, in an unorganized fashion, is to do little more than engage in anecdotal stories and idle chit-chat while providing little or no actual useful information. And, of course, ride a lot and have tons of fun.....in a Krusty manner."

Last time they were there with MotoGP I got talking with Larry Pegram for a while, nice guy. Talked even longer with his mum Mary, she was cooking pork on the grill at the time. It's smoke that make electronic components work.
Every time I've let the smoke out by mistake, they never work again.

Actually, if you leave the history aside it's a crazy place to hold a MC race. It's kind of a nothing track and two of the three years I went for the CCS races someone died.Last edited by RichDesmond; 02-11-2014, 07:21 PM.'20 Ducati Multistrada 1260S, '93 Ducati 750SS, '01 SV650S, '07 DL650, '01 DR-Z400S, '80 GS1000S, '85 RZ350
