    First-time drag racer

    Thanks to some forum members (thanks in particular Greg B!) finally got my hands on a GS-powered drag bike.

    I'm a long-time motorcycle road and MX racer (the story of my GS1000-powered road racer is here), with a few endurance, flat-track, and cross-country races thrown in for good measure. I've never drag-raced, though, but am looking forward to it.

    I'm sure I'll have lots of questions; any advice/thoughts/recommendations appreciated!

          Hot looking road race bike....hope it worked out well.

          The only drag racing I do is to turn 1.....as you’re well used to.

                  The good folks at Vicious Cycle set up with a 5.5" by 17" rear wheel over the weekend. The wheel has the same 20mm axle diameter of the stock wheel, which should make it easier to reuse parts like the axle-adjustment sliders, etc. (Wheel's off a 1st-gen Honda CBR00RR, I understand.)

                  Any special trick to fitting a 26" by 7" x 17" drag slick? I've been changing my own tires for about 20 years now (both tubed and tubeless, radial and bias-ply) but have never done a "square" drag tire. My shop has a dependable tire machine, and I've got access to a Rabaconda if necessary (plus my old trusty tire levers).

                      If you've done regular tires, slicks are easy. They are much more flexible than a street tire....

                        Good news about the tire, I'll update with progress.

                        Carbs look to be stockers, BS36mm Mikuni CV-style with different jets, and individual K&N pods. @stetracer, any recommendations or good rules of thumb for carbs?

                          With your set up you should be in the mid to low 10 second range. Do you have a Air Shifter? If not, you should look into getting one. Slick, Wheelie Bar, Air Shifter. The receipe for consistent ET's Good luck and keep us posted.👍
