So it would seem that bypassing the headlight switch loop is the thing to do. It sounds like some people are a little "Iffy" on what to do. Should I go ahead and link all three R/R yellow wires to my stator and bypass the headlight switch loop?
I just purchased a 1978 Honda CB400A (SH232-12) and will be using it on my 80 GS550L. The guy who owned it before me thought the stator was bad. I discovered that it had no R/R at all. I am excited to get the bike up and going!

I just bypassed mine, and it did help some. My regualtor is still iffy, and right now waiting for one from EBAY to get here. I cant get over about 13.4 volts at 3K, and 12.58 at 5k, and all this with a new stator as well. but it was slightly lower when I had that extra loop crap hooked up.

1st, buy a real deal Shindengen SH775 & Triumph jumper harness to hook it up.
Then, wire it like this...
