Save Yourself Some Grief When Rebuilding Carbs

I bought 4 new K&L carb rebuild kits to rebuild my carbs with.

After a proper cleaning and reassemble with the new air screws that came
with the kits I had some trouble. I could not get the bike to tune right and
    it was getting worse.

A few nights ago I took the air screws out just to reconfirm that they were
the same as the ones that were previously in the carbs because things
were just not working right and I couldn't get it dialed in.

When I removed the screw in #3 I noticed a fine hair like brass shrapnel
all over the screw. I removed the carbs and confirmed each one had
some of this stuff in it and it was working its way into the pilot circuit on
two of the carbs (2 and 3)

It turns out that it was simply thread shavings from when they cut the
threads on the new air screws. Apparently their quality control does not
allow for the deburring and removal of such things. I didn't notice it when
putting them in as it was tucked in the thread groves on each needle.

As I turned the screws in and out trying to tune the bike they worked
their way into the carbs. Being new needles I never thought to clean
them. I just put the new o-ring on them and popped them in.

So the lesson is, whenever rebuilding your carbs, be sure to check all the
new components for stray particles of any kind and even clean them good
    before using them.

I had to completely tear apart my carbs again because of this oversight.
But who would have thought it to be a needed step?

I didn't get any pictures of the offending material because it was so fine
I was just blowing it out and really didn't feel like taking the time.

I hope that helps save someone some aggravation.
