Handlebar switch lettering resurection?
So I guess my baby has had her share of days in the hot sun, rain, and sleet, and over the last 25 years or so the white lettering naming the functions of the various switches and indicators has come off. Any tricks for getting the lettering near what it looked like in '81? I was thinking about using a pinstripe brush and going a few days without coffee or sugar, but I'm afraid it will end up looking like some guy with no painting ability tried to letter his own dash. Like crap. Any ideas?Tags: None

If your switches are "Engraved" gently clean out any old paint.Fill the lettering with thick paint or engraving fill stick and wipe off the excess. If you use paint you can put some solvent on the rag that wont hurt the switch housing.Above all, be gentle.

I'm thinking about having a sign shop cut me some vinyl to replace the lettering. I'm with you, if I try to paint it by hand, it'll look like crap. Vinyl stickers are not that much money, and you can have them print any color and font you want. BTW my controls do not have engraved letter, they are flat, so this will work. with engravings, its probably best to flood paint in, and wipe off the excess. Or go to a art supply store and get a very fine line paint pen. I think for 5 bucks you can pick up a pen that has a tip width of 0.5 mm
