    Choke not staying on

I read in one of the forums about the choke not staying set, pulled out. Last night while working on my bike I found a way to keep the choke set. On my 1980 GS850 under the handle bar clamp cover there are two collars where the choke cable comes thru the steering head. The bottom one will lock the cable in place. The second or top one when tightened acts lock a friction lock. I just snugged my down and now the choke will stay pulled out and can be adjusted and hold its setting as the bike warms up. Hope this helps some people, it is a pain to try and hold the choke up and start the bike at the same time.

Another trick is to wrap the choke pullout shaft with teflon tape, provides just enough resistance for those chokes that are worn
