Well, I just wanted to share that I managed to take my bike from a not running state, to a running and feeling great state with the homemade carb synchronizer.
I made a manifold out of screw together pipe fittings (2 T's, and 2 elbows). Hooked 4 pieces of 5/16th ID line to the manifold and then to the vacuum ports on the carbs. To connect to teh carbs, I took some 5mm bolts, and drilled a hole through them. I hose clamped the hose to teh bolts and threaded them in. I filled the thing with 80W 90 gear oil a couple of feet high.
At first the cylinders were so out of balance that i could only start it for a split second before it would try to suck all the fluid up one hose. I would then adjust that one cylinder down a little and restart it. After repeating that process a few times, the cylinders were all close enough that the fluid would remain in all 4 hoses at different heights. from there I fine tuned them all to within about 1 inch of each other at 3000 rpms.
going through the different rpm ranges, the levels fluctuate a bit but for most of the range stay pretty well balanced.
The bike seems to run great now.
