    Plastic crack repair

I have this Plastic Welder gun i got off Ebay and have been using it to mend broke plastic bit. I comes with several different shaped staples. Basically you load a staple and press it across the split and squeeze the trigger. As the staple heats up it sinks into the part. Let off the trigger and let it cool 10 seconds and remove the gun. Staple permanently embedded in the plastic. Sorry this threads gonna take 6 posts to show the steps but it keeps telling me only one picture allowed per post.

    The kit...... https://www.ebay.com/itm/354999781238

Cut pins off with a Dremel and rough down the area to prep for ABS Cement as the patch material. Always do the cement on the back of a part so it wont be seen and can remain as thick as it was when applied. This adds more strength.

Apply ample ABS Cement. I let this set about 45 minutes the did another application. Now let it cure overnight.

Once the cement has cured then grind a ditch on the face to accept whatever filler you desire. I am gonna use Dolphin Glaze on this because the ditch isnt very deep or wide. And the glaze will flow real good into the remaining crack.

I bought the kit while rehabbing all the plastics on my 86 Ninja 600R. I had to buy a 12 inch by 2 inch piece of ABS to make chunks that were missing. This is the newly aquired tail for the upcoming skunk rebuild. Had some sort of hard silicone stuff holding it together and i knew that going in. The ABS Cement will be rock hard by tomorrow and it will be as strong as it was OEM.

The metal works great. I tried fixing a mounting ear on my rear cowl twice before fixing it for good using the staple. I wish I knew about them when that deer ran into my Bandit and broke 4 pieces.
