Speedo/Tach light bulb replacement instructions for 1978 GS1000
Hello, can someone provide step by step instructions on replacing the Speedo/Tach light bulbs on my 1978 GS1000? I could not find instructions anywhere in the posted forums, and the Suzuki service manual for this model year says nothing about instruments bulb replacement. Thanks.Tags: None

Slow & easy is my advice. On my 11EZ, some were melted/corroded, some could be replaced, some could not.1982 GS1100E V&H "SS" exhaust, APE pods, 1150 oil cooler, 140 speedo, 99.3 rear wheel HP, black engine, '83 red
2016 XL883L sigpic Two-tone blue and white. Almost 42 hp! Status: destroyed, now owned by the insurance company. The hole in my memory starts an hour before the accident and ends 24 hours after.

There are four little dome-head nuts holding the chromed panel underneath the gauge housing.
When that's removed, you will see the bulb holders - rubber plugs with wires that hold the bulbs. They simply pull out of place with a down-ward yank.
Provided the guage assembly hasn't been replaced with a later model, your bulbs are BA9S
You could replace them with filament bulbs if you like, or go LED, but don't bother with cheap LEDs, as they have no consistency of life expectancy, and it's a pita to go to the bother of opening it up again in a month or so to replace blown ones.
Your side of the pond, Superbright LEDs are a good supplier of cheap-ish and consistent bulbs.
