    Test In Progress

I just got a vac gauge carb balancer and found out all about TRYING to tighten the lock nuts without screwing up the settings. Got very p****d so I decided to try something else. I took the screws and lock nuts out of the carbs and modified them. I backed the nuts off the screws, then placed the nuts on topof them and brazed them on. Went to the hardware store and got springs (heavy) as close to the screw size as I could.(slightly larger) I cut the springs about .25 in long and bent the ends slightly to give a grip. So far they havent moved but I will try them for a couple of weeks to make sure. I will report on the sucess or failure soon.

    TWO WEEK PROGRESS REPORT:
As far as I can tell the balance adj. screws have not moved at all. The carbs are still balanced as before. This seems to be one solution to this maddening job of balancing carbs.

I use a universal socket (1/4 in drive) with a 6 in extension because of no. 3 being hard to get to.

I hope this helps everyone else as much as it did me.

      Nice work!

I've got a slightly easier method, though (actually I stole the idea from somebody...). Remove the locknuts and put a drop of blue loctite on each screw. I've been running that way for months and they stay in perfect adjustment. I wouldn't have thought it'd work either, but it does!
