    Speedometer Maintenance...

    ...without even cracking it open.

    The problem? Speedometer sticks.
    Solution? Lubrication.
    Item Needed? Spray silicone lubricant.
Time to finish? One to two Beer's.

And just how did I figure this out?
    By destroying a coveted 140MPH 1978 GS1000 speedo.
Not to worry, it gave it's life so others could live.
    A noble death indeed.
    1. Remove headlight.
    2. Remove the center plastic cover from the rear of the guages.
    3. Remove the the chrome cover on the rear of the speedometer. While you're in there, replace any blown bulbs. Part# 1445 (your welcome)
    4. Remove the two small screws in the very center.
    5. This is where you need to spray the silicone. In those small screw holes. You do still have the straw that came with the can, right?
    6. The idea is to lubricate this. See that little thing in the center that looks like the tip of a ball point pen? That's what we're aiming at.
    7. If you're lucky, your silicone made it to it's mark. (cross your fingers)
    8. Button it back up and go for a ride.
