Thread seal and anti galvanic corrosion.

Having difficulty bleeding brakes? Air might be getting in around the nipple's threads. A good way to fix this is to wrap the nipple thread with plumber's teflon tape. It has the added advantage of stopping the nipple from "welding" itself to the caliper over time ( i.e. dissimilar metals...galvanic corrosion).

Wrapping the screws that hold on the carb manifolds (boots) would be another situation where this might be helpful in stopping them getting "welded" in.

    Just another idea.

You can also get teflon "tape" in a liquid form at better auto parts stores which will reduce the possibility of getting pieces of foreign material in your brake fluid.
