Bleeding at the upper banjo bolt

I'm trying to bleed my brakes and use this banjo bolt method. I have speedbleeders installed which does help, but got the spongy feeling on the lever. If I pump the lever once or twice, the pressure is great. One question - is the m/c cap on or off while you do this banjo bolt method?Last edited by Guest; 05-11-2008, 01:05 PM.

Uhhh... you know.. I don't remember what I did. I think I had it on... probably better to have it off now that I think about it. I'm no expert

off is good if you are bleeding the system to add new fluid, but i don't think it'd matter. another good one is let the handle slap back when you are trying to work that last little bit of air out, seems to help work the air bubbles up.

Doesn't matter. The M/C cap is just to keep the fluid in the cylinder. Did the brakes yesterday, the banjo bolt method worked great. When I removed the m/c cap I noticed a large bubble of air pop up, maybe its better to have the cap off or loose.

In my last test ride I attempted a mock panic stop. I didn't stop nearly as well as I'd have hoped. I was still able to pull the lever all the way in, and I coasted to a stop long of where I should have.
I'm going to try removing the resevoir cover to see if maybe I have a trapped bubble or something.
It still feels better than it did, but I want more. I'll post up results when I'm able to figure it out.
