Speaking of tire lube, I've been using car wash soap, dilluted with water, for tire mounting. Are there corrosion issues with using this stuff? The inside of the rims on my '82 (tubeless) looked pretty corroded when the tires were changed - had to scrub them down with coarse scotchbrite before mounting the new tires. Going to purchase some proper tire lube some day but just wondering...Ed

Plus the detergents I use all have "WARNING-CORROSIVE" labels on them.

A bit of dish soap works well. Then, when you are done, use more dish soap to wash your hands. 8-[

Get The Good Stuff:
Available at any Napa Auto Parts. About $14 - $15 for a lifetime supply.
If you're really in a bind and can't find real lube, you could use a diluted solution of mild vegetable soap like Murphy's. However, I don't know if it would dry nice and sticky like RuGLYDE.Last edited by bwringer; 05-09-2008, 04:32 PM.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.
