Do it yourself. But a genuine Suzuki piston and cup set from your local dealer (about 30 bucks). Remove deep circlip (will need ling nose pliers or circlip removers). Remove existing piston, cups, seals, etc. Check no pitting or scoring in cylinder bore. If pitting exists you will need a new master cylinder. If none exists just give everything a clean-out and insert the new piston and cups. Re-install on bars, connect everthing up, bleed brakes, etc.
One thing to watch out for is the small hole in the reservoir, make sure it is not blocked. Clean it out.Last edited by Guest; 04-18-2009, 03:23 AM.

I have never succeeded in rebuilding the mc on an old machine. It is discouraging to buy the kit, which is half the price of a new unit, on average, then find that after hours of cleaning, honing and etc, you nick a rubber on the insert, or find microscopic pitting or whatever.
I bought a 5/8 used mc from a later RF suzuki 900 and it works like a charm for 1/4 the price. Do not get a lesser size bore...the volume is not sufficient to operate the wheel cylinders. I have made that mistake....
Good luck,
S.
