DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Almost by accident I found a low cost way to get a 12 volt outlet on my GS850N. I have a "Battery Tender JR" which includes a fused cable with round eyelets at one end and a small 2 conductor plug at the other. At my local O'Reilly Auto Parts I found an Auxilliary 12v Power Port by Electro-Tekfor $4 that has a matching 2 conductor plug and 12v receptacle that my GPS power cable plugs right into. The part number is #10722, from Custom Accessories, Inc. of Niles, IL. Hook the red & black eyelets right to the battery post, plug the cables together and it's ready to go!:)

Good tip. I have a 12V receptical wired in on all my bikes. Keeps my celly charged when I travel.

I do pretty much the same thing, but for different accessories.

I have a similar plug sticking out between the seat and the "tank" on my Wing. I can use it to charge the battery on the few occasions when the bike is parked for an extended time, or plug in my heated jacket liner and gloves when it gets a bit cool. :D

.

i wired my 12v cigerette lighter plug into a relay switch that i use for my r/r sense wire. I've used it for my GPS about 1 1/2hrs and it seemed to work well. This way it is not drawing any current from the battey, as little as it draws anyway, when the bike is not in use.

For safety sake you might want to put an in-line fuse in the circuit, you just never know when something might short out.

oh ya, i put in a mini 15amp inline fuse in mine. I was thinking about getting a mini 10amp fuse instead.

If all you are doing is charging your GPS or Cell phone you only need a 3A fuse. Those things don't draw much at all. If you are going to plug in a heated vest then you want to go with what the mfr recommends.
