Helmet to jacket seal?

I'm happy inside my full face helmet, but my neck is still in the wind above my jacket.

Has anybody seen some sort of helmet-to-jacket cuff that would warm my neck up? I tried searching for "dickie" at Newenough, but got nothing.

You want a textile balaclava. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balaclava_(clothing) Usually made out of spandex or some such thin stretchy material. Sometimes "flock" lined but thin enough to go under your helmet. Your local bike stores or sled stores should have them or try outdoor/ hunting stores.

Well made ones will be long enough front and back to go to your chest and mid back.

Works a treat but sometimes causes fogging in the visor as it helps trap your warm breath. Try not breathing as you ride

At Moosehead this year I noticed Skip had what you're looking for that was made specifically for a helmet.
It looked good and he said it worked great. Cuts down on noise and wind.
I don't recall the brand, but you could send him a PM and ask.

2 things I have...

Bought a fleece sleeve thing for my neck in Breckenridge a few summers a go (out of season sales). Fleece type material in a 'tube' shape, like the neck part of a turtle neck. Put it on, then my jacket, zip it up. Keeps my neck warm and seals out drafts in thru the neck of my jacket. Served me well until it gets about 35 degrees. Air still gets on my chin/jaw....

Also, have bank robbers mask...knit hat with cut outs for the eyes and mouth. Had to break that out this year. Like $5 from walmart I think. Probably looks goofy as hell but effective.

The guards on the base where I work have these more 'designer' masks. Has a proper nose and looks less like you're heading to knock off the local liquor store....probably costs more though. Try military surplus store maybe..

Being a firefighter i use a nomex hood. Same as what the race car drivers use. I've kept a few over the years once I can no longer use them at work. Then when i started to ride I decided to try it. Makes the helmet a bit tighter but not too bad. Its better than freezing.

I think what you guys are looking for is called a neck gaitor.

They make fleece lined ones that pretty much cover the from the next to chin and some more to spare. I use them for winter biking to school and they are windproof + breathable and keeps your neck nice and toasty

You can also take a cheap hat and cut the top off. Pull it down over your head until its around your neck.

I have a large selection of fleece neck gaiters. They're basically just fleece tubes that cover your neck. Look in the ski gear section of your local outdoor sports emporium. I also have a balaclava, but it only gets used when it's below freezing. Baclava, on the other hand, is good about anytime...

I picked up a dickie from Schampa last year, and it's great. I have an old cotton balaclava that works for the ride to work, but it wouldn't be up to an all day ride. I used to have gaitor that attached to the helmet with velcro and blocked all the wind in the neck area. I bought it from JC Whitney years ago, but lost track of it when I bought a new helmet. I haven't seen them anywhere in the past 10 years, though.

Coming home late in the cold one night I pulled the hood from my sweatshirt up over my helmet. In addition to keeping the cold air off my neck, it almost completely cut off any wind noise. It was amazingly quiet. The problem is getting the hood to stay on the helmet as you ride.
