Ever experience your bike cutting out or loosing power in heavy rains or extended periods when the moisure is high? Well here a tip passed down to me. First use some RTV and reseal around where the wires go into the coil bodies. Second get some 100% silicone spray from any auto parts store. Heavily soak the wires all the way down to the boots and let dry. Do this 3 times. The silicone will soak into the small microcracks in the wire rubber and reseals them against any moisture causing shorts or loss of power.

Get some new NGK plug caps. Before the new caps go on sleeve the wires with some heat shrink.82 1100 EZ (red)

I'll go along with the silicone spray, but I'll keep the RTV away from my wires, thank you.
As RTV cures, it give off acetic acid, which is not real friendly to electrical stuff. Yeah, there are a lot of people that have gotten away with it, but I have seen the corrosion caused by the acid, and it could be traced directly to the RTV.

There is special RTV for use with electrical wires that is non acitic, only it's expensive and not commonly available. The factory used what looks like epoxy on the wires where they come out of the coils so this should be ok to use I think.Ed
